Concrete countertops have been on the rise for the last couple of years. Thanks to shows on HGTV and tons of pictures on Pinterest using concrete countertops, I know the trend is sure to stick around for quite some time. With its industrial feel and urban look, it can transform the feel of your kitchen. It’s a great way to introduce a more updated look to your space, without coming across too modern. But most of the times, beauty comes with a price. And so do concrete countertops. Let’s take look at the true maintenance and what is your best alternative and concrete countertop solution on the flip side.
Maintenance of Concrete Countertops.
Just like our good old friends, granite & natural stones, concrete is also a porous material. It is vulnerable to staining and etching from things like citrus, red vinegar, and (my favorite of course!) red wine. You can lower the chance for stains and etching by applying a sealer. Make sure to compare the sealers and how often you will have to repeat the process. Are you up for applying a sealer once a month? You can find a variety of different sealers online or at your local hardware store. But remember, this will only buy you more time to clean up after a mess. Without the proper cleaning, you could still end up with a stain.
Alternative and best concrete countertop solution.
Me and my husband love to cook. We could spend hours in the kitchen cooking and meal prepping. But it sure can get a little messy when we cook. Sure, we will clean it all up at the end, but I might miss a spot for 30 minutes or more.
